Evelyn Shallo is the owner and founder of Interior and Exterior Motives in Flemington. NJ. Evelyn's career direction was cast from experiences that began at the age of 9 years old. As a child she would accompany her mother to local flea markets where together they would spend hours browsing the antiques, basement treasures and the various crafts. And when Evelyn was not rubbing elbows with local artisans she often would be with her father visiting various work sites that his construction company was involved in. These two different worlds came together to form the basis of her love for design, merchandising and business throughout the years ahead.

During her high school years Ms. Shallo would create silk flowers and arrangements and sell them at flea markets using the profits to pay for her formal education at Parsons School Of Design in NYC. Not long after graduating, at the age of 21, she went into business for herself. She leased a 2,100 square foot location and opened up what at that time was called 'Contemporary Motives.'

In 2001, Evelyn had the opportunity to purchase the property where her business was located. Once again she drew on her lifetime of experiences and reputation and made the purchase. Evelyn's vision resulted in the creation of what today is a multi-million dollar residential and commercial design business. That original 2100 square foot rental space has grown into over 18,000 square feet of interior and exterior design space.

Evelyn's 21 yrs of outstanding success and her vast network of business relationships was recognized by the Flemington Raritan Business Association who named her the 2007 Business Leader of the Year! Evelyn is the first female ever to win this prestigious award. The award dinner achieved the following milestones: first sell-out ever for this event; largest ad journal ever; largest fundraiser for the Business Association ever; largest crowd at Copper Hill Country Club for a sit down dinner event ever.
